Seminar on Learning Crisis in South Asia

A public seminar on "Learning Crisis in South Asia" was organized by RED on 24th August at BRAC Inn. Professor Niaz Asadullah of Malaya University gave the keynote presentation and presented evidence on the low level of student learning across primary and secondary grades in rural Bangladesh. The speaker also shared findings from an ongoing study with RED researchers Md. Abdul Alim and Fathema Zhura Khatoon on the Adolescent Development Program (ADP) of BRAC. The findings were further corroborated by analysis based on the recently completed "Women's Life Choices and Attitudes Survey" (WiLCAS) 2014. A number of international development partners, NGO activists and academics attended the seminar. Dr Mahabub Hossain, Distinguished Professor of BRAC University spoke as the Chief Guest. The seminar was chaired by Professor Abdul Bayes, Director, BRAC RED.
